To gain college credit while you are in high school, you may want to take a college course through Central Community College. To find out more details, talk to Mrs. Wolken or "CCC Early Entry". Several internet based courses are also available at "CCC Online Learning" or check out the "Online Courses at Metro in Omaha" or Online Courses at SCC in Lincoln. To see whether a CCC course will transfer to UNL or another Nebraska college, click "UNL Transfer Credits".
To link to any of Nebraska's colleges or universities, click on Nebraska Colleges or visit EducationQuest Foundation's College Profiles. If you are planning to visit a college campus, brainstorm a list of questions to be asked by checking out "Campus Tour".

If you are thinking that your are going to experience major financial difficulties when you attend college, check out "Avoid College Debt" . A great way to search for scholarships is to complete an online survey through Fastweb or EducationQuest.

The University of Nebraska, Lincoln provides excellent information about where their graduates are employed with beginning, average and top salaries. You may want to check out UNL Career Services.


Check out the Student Stories of high school and college students who developed their own college / career plans or the College Journal, a site providing information related to college / career / resume help from the Wall Street Journal.
If you are considering UNL as a college option, you will need to apply online (UNL Apply online) or if UNK is an option, clikc UNK Apply online. College Admission Guide
Know the Key Terms

Award Letter: A letter telling you what financial aid (if any)your college is offering to you (includes types and amounts ofaid offered, specific program information, etc.). You may choose to accept some or all of what is offered.
Credit (or Credit Hour): A unit of measurement institutions give for fulfilling course requirements. Most colleges require that you complete a certain number in order to graduate.
Cost of Attendance: Includes any cost associated with attending college: tuition and associated fees, room and board, books and supplies, etc. - ˘
Expected Family Contribution: Amount students and their family are expected to contribute toward cost of attendance.
FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Students must fill out the FAFSA to find out how much federal aid they are eligible to receive. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more info.
Out-of-State Student: Generally applies to students attending public university. Out-of- state students must pay a higher tuition rate until they have established legal residency for that state.
Rolling Admissions: There is no set admissions deadline date; qualified students are accepted until classes are filled.
Undergraduate student: A student who has not completed a baccalaureate or first professional degree.
